Susan R. Joines - Founder, Director - Dancemoves Studio of DanceSusan holds a BA degree in dance from Towson University and an MA degree in dance from George Washington University. Ms. Joines studied classical ballet at both Peabody Institute and Baltimore Ballet. Susan founded Dancemoves Studio of Dance in 1983, after studying and performing in New York, Boston and Washington D. C.  Ms. Joines  also spent time working in the Development Department of the world famous City Center Theatre in New York.  Ms. Joines founded Common Ground  Dance Company in 1999 and served as Artistic Director for many years. Susan served three years as a panelist with the Maryland States Art Council.  She has been on the dance faculty of such pretigious dance programs as Towson University, George Washington University and Harford Community College.  She also served as a dance specialist for Cecil County public school system for two years, in addition to being a faculty member at Notre Dame Preparatory in Towson, MD.  Ms. Joines is very excited with the new expansion of Dancemoves Studio of Dance, the creation of the classical track and new addition of Maryland Classical Dance Academy - the non-profit arm of the classical division of Dancemoves.  Students studying under the Direction of Ms. Joines, along with instruction from the very talented Dancemoves Studio of Dance instructors have been accepted into such prestigious dance institutions as Arizona University, Oklahoma University, Oklahoma City University, Elon University, Towson University, North Carolina School of the Arts, University of Philadelphia School of the Arts, University of Maryland Baltimore County - Linehan Scholar Program for Dance, Mercyhust College of Dance and Pointe Park College for Dance.  Students have also been awarded such honors as Maryland Distinguished Scholars for the Arts in Dance, National Foundation for the Arts semi-finalists in dance, along with Youth American Grand Prix top soloists.  Graduates have gone on to perform in professional venues such as , Complexions Contemporary Ballet Company - New York, Disney Dream Cruise Lines, Joffrey School of Contemporary Ballet Touring Company, Bliss Lau fashion week, McDonald Selznick Associates (MSA) representation for dancers in New York, X-Box Launch Dancer event, Bad Boys of Dance guest artists, So You Think You Can Dance - Ticket to Vegas winners.

Deborah Engerman  - Director, Classical TrackDeborah Engerman has recently toured Europe as Ballet Mistress with Rasta Thomas' Bad Boys of Dance and has now returned home to the USA, teaching in MD and PA.  She trained with the Baltimore Ballet in the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) tradition, passing her graded exams. While pursuing her degree in International Policy at Dickinson College, she continued her study of classical ballet at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Her dance training also includes Vaganova Technique, French Methodology, and the Dance Education Program at Towson University.  Deborah was the Ballet Academy Director at Mid Atlantic Center for the Performing Arts, where she staged such ballets as the Nutcracker and Swan Lake, Act II. Dancers trained by Mrs. Engerman have danced with Universal Ballet, The Washington Ballet, Ballet West, The Vienna Opera Ballet, the Boston Ballet, Complexions Dance Company, The Mark Morris Dance Group, and on Broadway. She has also been a coach to dancers winning at numerous international ballet competitions, such as The Prix de Lausanne, the Varna IBC, and The Youth America Grand Prix. One of her students, Adrienne Canterna, took the Junior Gold Medal at the 1998 Jackson USA International Ballet Competition. She is excited to have returned to the US and Dancemoves Studio of Dance, where she began teaching in 2005, and to continue to bring the beautiful tradition of ballet to her students.

Nicolle Canapp - Director, Children's DivisionNicolle Canapp graduated from Point Park University with a B.A. degree in dance education and is a graduate of Western Kentucky's University Dance Educators of America teacher's training school. While in college, Nicolle was awarded a dance scholarship and was a resident dancer in their company. Nicolle spent time as professional dancer with Carnival Cruise Lines and American Entertainment Productions before returning to Maryland to begin a very successful teaching career. She taught for over 15 years with D.J.’s Dance Studio in Perry Hall, where she was the recipient of many choreography awards for their competitive teams. Nicolle has choreographed for the children’s theater at the Cockpit in the Court (BCCC), as well as performing and choreographing for local Dinner Theaters. In her early dance career she could be seen dancing at Memorial Stadium as the Baltimore Orioles Ball Girl and as a member of WJZ TV’s show, Shakedown. She has a passion for teaching children of all ages. Many of her former students have gone on to perform for touring companies, entertainment companies and cruise lines. Currently she resides in Perry Hall with her husband and son.

Debbie Henry - AssistantRehearsal Director - The NutcrackerDebra Ballwanz Henry graduated magna cum laude from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, where she was the recipient of a Scholarship for the Arts and received Honorable Mention for the Maryland Distinguished Scholarship of the Arts. She is also a graduate of the Institute of Notre Dame, for whom she choreographed Anything Goes, 42nd Street along with choreography placed on the IND Dance Team. Debra has danced under the direction of Jean Kettell and performed with the Baltimore School of the Washington Ballet. She has studied under the Maryland Gifted and Talented Summer Camp for the Arts and has taken class from Ben Vereen, and Mia Peeples. Debbie has been an Instructor with Dancemoves Studio for over ten years.  She is also the Assistant Director of Marketing for the law firm of Gordon, Feinblatt and a proud mom and wife.

Jen Hegner  - Jennifer grew up in Annapolis and studied dance at Dance Explosion in Glen Burnie, Maryland. In college, she was a member of the 15 times, Top Number One nationally ranked, Towson University Dance Team and after four years she graduated with a degree in psychology. She continued with her education by earning her masters in Social Work from University of Maryland Baltimore.  Jennifer has also been a dance teacher for thirteen years. This is her seventh year as a member of Common Ground Dance Company.

Rhoda McClure (Toddler Dance/ Creative Movement, Preballet) has been teaching dance in the Baltimore area since 1986. Prior to her career as a teacher, Rhoda was a competitive baton twirler, held the title of Miss Maryland College Majorette, taught many State & National Title winners, was an NFL Baltimore Colt Cheerleader. She attended Towson University where she studied Education with an emphasis in Mathematics. Using her extensive knowledge of children and their developmental stages, Rhoda created a comprehensive syllabus for the young dancer combining principles of early childhood education with primary dance movement. Emphasis is placed on the pure joy of dance in a fun, encouraging, yet disciplined atmosphere. Rhoda was thrilled to join the Dancemoves faculty in 2011 and is looking forward to touching the lives of many young dancers. Along with her satisfying career as an educator, her most special role is that of wife, mother & Rho Rho.

Anne O'Brien - Anne Magill O’Brien grew up in Bryan, TX and graduated from the University of Texas in 1997  with a B.A. degree in history. While in college Anne danced with and choreographed for the UT Dance Team, and was a member of Third Coast Jazz Dance Company. Ms. O'Brien taught at Art In Motion Dance Studio  in Illinois, along with choreographing for their National award winning competitive performance groups.  Anne received a second bachelor’s degree in Dance Performance and Education, with K-12 Certification from Towson University, completed in 2005.  Anne has been the recepient of many top choreography awards during her time as Director of Dancemoves' Nationally award winning performance groups. Anne is also the proud mom of Daniel and Lucie and Rosie. 

Chelsea Nori -  A graduate from Towson University earning a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance Performance,  Chelsea began dancing at the age of 2 1/2 first at Bel Air Recreational Council then at age 5 moving to Dance Dynamix which later became Mid-Atlantic Center for the Performing Arts. Chelsea has studied styles of dance from ballet, pointe, contemporary, jazz, hip hop and more. She has performed and competed in numerous venues including Towson University company performances in Towson and Los Angeles, CA, Maryland Classical Dance Academy Nutcracker Productions. 

Brandon Russell  -   a native of Fort Worth, TX. He began his dance training late at the age of 17 at Diane West Dance Studio, Texas Ballet Theatre School and Debbie Allen Dance Academy. In 2001, Brandon was named NYCDA's regional outstanding senior male and won NDA's best senior male dancer national title. Brandon continued his academic and dance training at Southern Methodist University studying a variety of dance techniques and composition, where his choreographic aspirations were nurtured by Larry White and Nathan Montoya. While attending SMU Brandon was awarded numerous scholarships and trained all over the country, including such prestigious institutions as Edge Performing Arts, The Ailey School, Dance Theatre of Harlem School, Joffery Ballet School, Houston Ballet School and many more. Upon leaving SMU Mr. Perry-Russell moved to New York, to pursue his career in dance. He has performed with Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble, Pascal Rioult Dance Theatre, Lydia Johnson Dance, Errol Grimes Dance Group, Rohan Bearden Contemporary Ballet, Balance Dance Theatre, Subtle Changes Inc. Mr. Perry-Russell has taught ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, gymnastics and choreographed for various companies, schools, studios, fine arts programs, summer intensives and is a proud founding choreographer and Operations Manager for Bad Boys of Dance.

Kelly Sneddon originally from Baltimore, MD, began her dance education under the direction of her mother, Susan Joines. Upon graduation she attended North Carolina School of the Arts studying under Brenda Daniels. Kelly went on to continue her dance education as a trainee at The Joffrey Ballet School in NYC, where she studied with Davis Robertson and Brian McSween. There she was a member of the Joffrey Ballet Touring Company. In 2009 Kelly was recognized as a Maryland Distinguished Scholar for dance as well as  ballet finalist for the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts. Kelly went on to become a member of Complexions Contemporary Ballet in 2012. In 2014, Kelly became a soloist in Cirque du Soleil's The Beatles LOVE show, in Las Vegas. Ms. Sneddon recieved the honor of becoming a Capezio athlete in 2015. Kelly became a certified health coach in 2014 after studying at The Institute of Integrative Nutrition.  She has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, Dance Informa Magazine, and Dance Magazine.  

Sandra Zaicko - Originally from a dance oriented family based in North Carolina, Sandra attended Governor’s School of North Carolina (a program for intellectually gifted students based on nomination and audition) for Performing Arts through Dance. Sandra attended Elon University where she continued dancing and performing with the Elon Dancers. Throughout college, Sandra taught at two local dance studios where she was the Technical Director for their competitive teams. Sandra graduated in 2008 with her B.A. in Corporate Communications.  Active member and certified to teach through Dance Masters of America, Mid-Atlantic Chapter 17.
